£100,000 of counterfeit goods seized at Co Antrim fair Wednesday, 30th August 2006
Police in the North have seized more than £100,000 worth of suspected counterfeit goods at the Auld Lammas Fair in Ballycastle, Co Antrim.
Clothing, sunglasses and football wristbands were among the items seized from market stalls at the fair on Monday and Tuesday.
In past times, the event attracted farmers from far and wide to horse trade and sell agricultural produce.
Nowadays, however, the goods on offer are more likely to be counterfeit DVDs and smuggled cigarettes, some of which are used to fund paramilitary groups.
